HTTP Error 404 – File or directory not found

Symptom
You have installed the PCE Server on Windows Server 2003 that is running Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 and you are getting “HTTP Error 404 – File or directory not found” error while trying to open the PCE Console as shown here;

Solution
1. Go to PCE Server machine.

2. Type inetmgr in the run box of start menu. This opens IIS Manager.

3. Expand the Server Name node and select the Web Service Extensions node.

4. In the right pane of IIS Manager, right click the extension Active Server Pages and select Allow.

5. Similarly right click the extension ASP.NET v1.1.4322 and select allow.

6. Close IIS Manager window.

7. Now try to access the PCE Console.
