Server Error In The '/Reports' Application - Access To The Path "Dynamic Images" Is
Denied
Problem 1 - .NET error appears trying access the
dynamic images folder
When you try to run a PCE Report the following .NET error appears;
Solution
1. Taking owner-ship of the dynamic_images folder.
a. On the PCE Server login as Administrator.
b. Navigate to the following folder: C:\windows\system32\inetsrv
c. Here you will see a folder named dynamic_images. Right click on dynamic_images
and select Properties.
d. Select the Security tab and click on Advanced button.
e. In the 'Advanced Security...' dialog box, select the Owner tab.
f. In the 'Change owner to:' list box, select 'Administrators'.
g. Click OK button of the 'Advanced Security...' dialog box. Click the OK button
of the Properties dialog box.
2. Granting permissions on the dynamic_images folder.
a. Again, right-click on the dynamic_images folder and select Properties.
b. On the Security tab, click Add.
c. In "Select Users..." dialog box, click "Locations...".
d. In the "Locations" dialog box select the machine name and click OK.
e. In the "Select Users..." dialog box, type Everyone in "Enter
the object names..." text box.
f. Click OK. In this way you will come back to Properties dialog box, in which
Everyone will be selected in the upper list box.
g. In the lower list box check "Full Control".
h. Click the "Advanced" button. In the "Advanced Security..." dialog
box check "Allow inheritable permissions.." and “Reset permissions on all…”
checkboxes and then click OK.
i. Finally, click OK in the Properties dialog box.
3. Granting permissions on the viewers folder.
Repeat the steps written above to grant full control to Everyone on the following
folder:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio .NET\Crystal Reports\Viewers
4. Restart the computer.
